The available Vortec 8100 V8 SFI engine in Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 models produces more torque than the V8 and V10 gas engines available from Ford. And when combined with the available Allison transmission, the highly acclaimed available Duramax Diesel 6600 V8 is designed to handle the toughest jobs. When it comes to power, Silverado is all work.

Duramax 6600 V8: Call It The Super Diesel

Offered on Silverado 2500HD and 3500 models, Duramax includes these features to make it a powerful choice:

Common rail fuel injection, developed by Bosch which optimizes fuel injection rates for reduced combustion noise.

Fracture-split alloy connecting rods which reduce weight and increase durability.

Cylinder heads made of strong, lightweight aluminum which dissipates heat.

An integral engine oil cooler which optimizes water flow throught the oil cooler, providing cooler oil to the engine throughout the operating range.

Vortec 8100 V8: Big Block. Big Power.

It's called the Big Block. And with the most horsepower of any engine in the Chevy Truck lineup, the available Vortec 8100 V8 SFI gas engine can take the Silverado 2500HD and 3500 Big Dooley models to a high level of performance. Here are just a few features that make the Big Block an outstanding engine:

Stainless-steel exhaust manifolds.

Internal balancing reduces stress on the high-capacity crankshaft.

Efficient seals used in combination with large, flat surfaces which are designed to help minimize the chance of oil leaks.

Equal-length runners int he intake maniold to help provide efficient combustion.

Accessory drive belts designed to operate up to 150,000 miles before replacement.

Move It Out With Allison

The available Allison 1000 Series five-speed automatic transmission, a GM-segment exclusive, helps provide confident towing in your Silverado. In fact, this is the same Allison transmission you'll find in the new Chevy medium-duty trucks. Other trailering features of Silverado 2500HD and 3500 models include:
